In these quarantine and solitary confinement weeks, where you reach the climax only when taking the trash out or standing in line to do the groceries, you may have received via WhatsApp a lot of memes on Coronavirus and its consequences on our daily routines. And maybe, among all those hilarious messages, you may have come across some 8D audio tracks, with the due warning to listen up with headphones on.

When I received that, I thought it was just a bunch of panning and spatialized surround sounds, that succeeded with great impact in the case of surprise effects, but that for the most part felt very rudimental, as if I was playing around with Ableton Live and the like without really knowing how to do so. Right after experiencing this “new” technology that has been hailed by many listeners, I felt the need to listen up to some of the songs that are able to give even more impactful goosebumps without the use of 8D processing. The result is Headphones On, a playlist made with a lot of love for music and those who created it with the intention to amaze the listener without recurring to easy tricks. Please, don’t shuffle, and pause every half hour to rest your ears.
